I woke up and saw an odd-looking machine in my garden. I went closer to it and saw “Time Machine” written on it. Shocked, I went onto it and decided to go in future. I was excited how life would be in 2060 when I will be nearly 80, if I lived that long. Sat on it and turned the lever to 2060 and there I was. The houses were similar to current day standard British homes. I decided to knock on one of the doors but the moment I reached with in 10 feet of the house, an alarm rang, which I understood was the equivalent of a bell. A clean shaved man came out and said hello to me. I replied back. While I was tempted to tell him that I was from 2023, a dog came by the side of the man. The man introduced the dog to me, “meet my wife”. I was confused but tried to control my expressions. The man though, was able to read my face and appeared unhappy. Without me saying anything further, he reminded me that it was none of my business to raise my eyebrow on his marital status and that he and his wife love each other, happily living together and prosperous. I appreciated that and left without saying anything else. I ended up seeing numerous human-animal couples. Soon I understood it was normal part of society, after all, humans have evolved with time and it was year 2060. I moved around a little more to find out that the biggest celebrity was known for his abilities to lie. He lied in the court and was awarded multiple awards for being dishonest. I also noted the cars were moving forward on the red light and stopping at green.
I was flustered. My enthusiasm and excitement to go to future suffered a big jolt. In a bit of a despair and disappointment, I immediately returned to my machine and decided to go back in time and stopped at 1955. Life felt old fashioned and conventional. Honesty and integrity were part big part of societies. Marrying and family life were prioritised. I didn’t see a single rainbow sign and homosexuality was a punishable crime. Some of the women covered their whole bodies like Muslim women. I didn’t dare speak to anyone and came back to 2023.
I believe all of us have been in a similar time machine since we were born. The values and virtues of life have changed and are changing right in front of our eyes. Something which was wrong yesterday, is considered normal today. This makes me think, what is the definition of right or wrong and who decides what is right or wrong? Is social acceptability the measure which will make certain things or acts right or wrong? Is the society going to decide what is right and what is wrong? Today if the society doesn't accept something, then it is considered wrong, but if the society accepts it 50 years later, does the same thing become right? Or who is it? Is it the media who has the responsibility to tell us, ‘folks, it wasn’t right 20 years ago and but now its ok you can do it’ and not only promote it but almost force us to accept it? If it becomes acceptable by the society to lie, will it be good to lie? Are we going to accept it in the name of “human evolution” as we hear today. You never know, marrying your pet may become legal in next 40 years and you may be forced to accept it? If telling a lie today is wrong, should it hide under ‘modernization with time’ and be acceptable with time?
What is right is eternally right and wrong is wrong forever. The definition for the rightness of right doesn’t come from votes and approvals in parliament, nor does it get influenced by our's or media houses opinions. The definitions have come from the divine revelations in the form of legislation, in the form of books, one which doesn’t change with a petition or a vote, which is eternal, applicable from the day you were born till your death and after. It doesn’t get influenced by the opinion of a news channel or social acceptability. If we are ready to change or twist these definitions then, such is the perfection of these definitions, time will not only tell but show you the consequences sooner or later. That is 100% guaranteed.
We have time to explore the validity of these Divine definitions. You wont be disappointed.
